FAQS
-
How long will these orthotics last?
With moderate wear, Pine Valley Orthotics have a life expectancy of 2 years. Of course, frequency of wear will determine how often you will want to replace them.
-
Will these orthotics help my lower body and foot pain?
Yes, Pine Valley Orthotics will help alleviate the pain in your feet and possibly eliminate it - especially pain caused by plantar fasciitis, heel pain, back pain, knee pain and neuropathy.
-
How are these orthotics different from others?
The inability to properly shift weight during movement often causes overcompensation in the hips and legs, leading to hip, knee, and ankle pain. That's where Pine Valley Orthotics helps.
-
My doctor told me I should get a custom orthotic, so why should I get these?
A custom orthotic is ideal for people with Parkinson's Disease, which Pine Valley Orthotics offers. This decision is purely personal and should be discussed with your doctor.
Expectations For Parkinson's Orthotics: better weight distribution; reduced stress on the spine and lower limbs; improved gait speed; and improved posture.
Parkinson's is a progressive neurological disorder that affects movement, leading to symptoms such as tremors, stiffness, slowness of movement, and balance problems. As the disease progresses, individuals often experience significant changes in how they walk, move, and even stand. Lower back pain is a common complaint among individuals with Parkinson’s disease. This is often due to muscle rigidity and poor posture, which can affect spinal alignment and lead to chronic discomfort. In some cases, people with Parkinson's may develop a stooped posture, which further strains the lower back.
Parkinson's disease can lead to stiffness and muscle cramping in the lower body, making walking and standing painful. The inability to properly shift weight during movement often causes overcompensation in the hips and legs, leading to hip, knee, and ankle pain.
Additionally, individuals may develop a shuffling gait, which can place additional strain on the lower body. Foot pain is a common issue for those living with Parkinson’s disease. The rigidity in the feet and ankles can lead to plantar fasciitis, bunions, and heel spurs.
Furthermore, the reduction in movement speed often results in abnormal gait patterns that can worsen foot discomfort. As a result, people with Parkinson's disease often experience discomfort in their feet and may even have difficulty standing or walking for extended periods.
Pine Valley Orthotics offers a unique solution to the discomforts caused by Parkinson's disease. Our specially designed orthotics aim to improve posture, reduce pain, and increase stability, providing much-needed relief to individuals with Parkinson’s. Our orthotics are designed to improve foot alignment and provide cushioning, helping to alleviate pressure points that can lead to foot pain. For people with Parkinson's disease, this can make a significant difference in walking comfort, reducing foot fatigue and pain. With their custom-fit design, Pine Valley Orthotics support proper alignment of the lower back and spine. This can be particularly beneficial for individuals whose posture is affected by Parkinson’s, helping to reduce lower back pain caused by misalignment and muscle stiffness. Pine Valley Orthotics help improve gait and balance, which are often compromised in individuals with Parkinson’s.
By offering enhanced arch support and cushioning, they help stabilize the foot, reducing the risk of falls, which is a serious concern for those with Parkinson’s disease. Several studies support the role of foot and ankle orthotics in managing Parkinson's symptoms. According to research, 65-90% of people with Parkinson’s disease experience gait disturbances, and the use of supportive orthotics has been shown to improve gait speed by up to 20% in some cases (source: National Parkinson Foundation). Additionally, custom orthotics have been shown to reduce pain in the lower back by 25-30% in patients with neurological disorders like Parkinson’s (source: PubMed). This is achieved through better weight distribution, reducing stress on the spine and lower limbs, and improving posture.
